Ankpa LG Chairman Refutes Rumour of Herdsmen Attack
The Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area, Engineer Ademu Muhammed, has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging an attack by Fulani herdsmen in the Acharane Forest area of Ankpa.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Idris Mohammed Omale, the Chairman described the claims as entirely untrue and designed to cause unnecessary panic.
The false report was attributed to one Dr. Jerry Ojochogwu, said to be originally from Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State but who claims to have been born and raised in Ankpa. Dr. Ojochogwu alleged that herdsmen expelled from Benue State had taken over Acharane Forest, killing farmers and kidnapping anyone found in the area.
Engineer Ademu strongly condemned the claim as highly misleading, ill-informed, and capable of inciting tension within the community. He urged the public to disregard such unverified information and instead rely on credible sources for updates.
The Council Chairman further assured residents of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Ankpa Local Government Area.
