Ankpa Waterboard Finally Receives Government Attention

The Ankpa Waterboard, which had been abandoned for a long time, has finally received attention from the state government.

Hon. Ademu Muhammed Yahaya, the Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area, earlier today welcomed Engineer Yahaya MD Farouk, the Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, to inspect the Waterboard and identify areas for improvement.

The visit was a pivotal step towards providing portable water to residents and improving living conditions in Ankpa.

Engineer Farouk and his team inspected the Waterboard site, documenting stolen facilities and assessing the condition of the dilapidated structures.

They also visited the ironed-water storage site behind YAMAN fuel station, where they found evidence of encroachment and directed the council chairman to investigate and stop the unauthorized building projects forthwith.

The Commissioner also expressed concern over the state of an age-long reserved portion of land at Ibrahim Taiwo Road, which had been sold and fenced by an individual.

The youths in the area pleaded with the Commissioner to report back to the Governor and take appropriate action to reclaim the community land long reserved by the elders in the area for public use.

The visit demonstrates the state government’s commitment to addressing the water supply and sanitation challenges in Ankpa. With Engineer Farouk’s expertise and Hon. Ademu’s dedication to progress, Ankpa can expect this very positive change in the near future, as plans are already in place to kick-start the rehabilitation instantly.

Notably, the Council Chairman has installed a 24-hour security vigilance at the site, securing the area and its environs, should any unseen, as experienced in the past.

Idris Mohammed Omale (Orator),
Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman.
