APC reassured of victory in Olamaboro as ward rallies ends
The day 2 of the Kogi APC ward rallies in Olamaboro came to an end today with the electorates reassuring the party of their votes come November 16th.
The tour which commenced In Igah ward 4, through to Olamaboro ward 1, 2, 5, Ette ward and tarminated in Ogugu ward 3, the ward of the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, saw thousands of supporters troupe out to pledge their commitment to the reelection of Governor Yahaya Bello.
The Deputy Governor who defied the early morning threat of rain mobilized his colleagues to embark on the movement. “we cannot keep the people waiting”. He said.
The first point of call for the day was the popular Igah ward, but along the way, the Deputy Governor’s entourage made a brief stop at Okpo to commission a constituency office belonging to the member representing Olamaboro Constituency in the state house of assembly, honorable Anthony Alewo Ujah.
At Igah, the Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government, honorable Friday Adejoh commended the people for turning up as early as they did to welcome them, ‘it is a genuine display of the love you have for APC’. He said.
Friday said the government of Yahaya Bello has done well for the people of Olamaboro and therefore deserve their vote in the forthcoming governorship election as it’ll guarantee more development for the local government.
The Director General of APC Campaign council in the local government, Engineer Sony Okoh said the people of Igah ward are not any different from those in other parts of the local government, saying that the decision to reelect governor Yahaya Bello was a collective one that they are committed to.
He called on the people not to be deceived by those promoting their selfish agendas under the guise of Igala Agenda, saying that Olamaboro local government benefited nothing when those people held power in the state.
284 people decamped to APC in Igah ward.
The decampees were received by the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja during the ward to ward campaign held today. He assured the decampees of inclusion in the party activities as APC doesn’t discriminate.
At Inyele, Olamaboro Ward 5, the ward Chairman said their decision to support APC in the forthcoming governorship election was because they want to continue enjoying the dividends of good governance by Governor Yahaya Bello. He said that the people of Olamaboro are educated and highly intelligent, and would not trade their place in this government for a pot of porridge. “Tell Governor Yahaya Bello that our gratitude will be manifest in the block votes that we’ll deliver to APC.
In Ogugu ward 1 and 2, the ward chairmen, Ahmodu Apeh and Silas Enejo both said Edward Onoja performed well as Chief of Staff, and because of that, they believe that he will perform better as the Deputy Governor and Olamaboro will be the best for it.
They however called on government to look into the provision of road and water infrastructure for the wards as they were the major challenge that they put before Governor Bello when he gets elected.
Meanwhile in Ete, Ogugu ward 3, the leaders of the community who spoke said APC is the only party known to them because it was the only party that has given them a sense of belonging.
They asked the Deputy Governor to use his office to look into the boundary issue that exists between the community and their neighbor in Enugu state. Saying that the land belong to Kogi State.
In Ogugu ward 3 which happens to be the Deputy Governor’s ward, in what could be likened to ‘saving the best for the last’; the Deputy Governor was given a rousing welcome, something similitude of the welcome of a king.
The ward leader in his statement said Ogugu ward 3 doesn’t need to say much as they remain the greatest beneficiary of the goodwill of Governor Yahaya Bello. He said they will repay the governor back by ensuring that PDP or any other party records zero votes in the forthcoming election.
While speaking to the electorates, Onoja expressed gratitude for the overwhelming reception that he received all through the tour, he said it gave him pride and a strong conviction that indeed, his people are happy with his boss Governor Yahaya Bello.
He urged everyone, especially women to come out in their large numbers to vote APC as he assured them that the election will be peaceful, free and fair.
He however warned those who will allow themselves to be used by the opposition to disrupt the election to think again as that may lead to their end.
“Governor Yahaya Bello have done so much for Olamaboro local government and this have been acknowledged by all. With your decision to vote for governor Bello in November 16, I can confidently say that Olamaboro will deliver on its promise.
“I want to sound a note of warning to all those nursing the idea of being used by the opposition to snatch ballot boxes. ‘Do that at your own risk”. Onoja warned.
The Deputy Governor said the PDP was in power for over thirteen years yet Kogi State State remains undeveloped, he said those who held various positions in the time of PDP used it to enrich themselves at the detriment of the people. “They have regrouped again and are desperately gunning to take pawer again, let’s not give them that opportunity”.
Onoja assured the people of Ette community that he would his new office to engage the relavant stakeholders especially the boundary adjustment commission to ensure that the right of association of the people of the area is fully executed.
He mentioned several of the projects executed by the government of Yahaya Bello in the last three years and promised that more will be achieved in their second tenure.
