The Governor Yahaya Bello to President Yahaya Bello (GYB2PYB), youth support group, has commenced the sensitisation and mobilisation of youths, women and people living with disabilities, to actively participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) registration and revalidation exercise.
The group kicked off the exercise in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), starting with visits to traditional rulers to seek royal blessings.
Amb. Oladele Nihi, the Director General of GYB2PYB, led the group to His Royal Highness the Ona Abaji, Alh Adamu Baba Yunusa, Chairman FCT Traditional Council.
The delegation was received at the Palace by Alhaji Ibrahim Aguyi, Madaki of Abaji Traditional Council, the representative of the traditional ruler.
Nihi thanked the Ona and the people of Abaji for the warm reception accorded the group.
The DG narrated the struggles of the young people, which brought about the success and development recorded in Nigeria today.
According to him, Nigerian youths have decided to rewrite history by rising up to the challenge of nation building through active participation in politics and governance.
“It is premised upon this fact that the group was birthed to canvass for and see to the actualisation of a Yahaya Bello presidency in 2023,’’ he said.
He described Kogi State as the microcosm of Nigeria, and whoever was able to achieve a high level of success in managing a state as diverse as Kogi, was most suitable to replicate same in Nigeria.
Nihi listed achievements of Bello’s administration to include socio-political, socio-cultural and inter-religious cohesion, security, inclusive governance and gender equality, as qualities that stood him out as most preferred occupant of the presidential seat in 2023.
He said the group was mobilising youths to actively participate in governance, beginning with party politics, to eventually elect one of them to lead.
The youth leader said GYB2PYB had therefore, come to seek royal guidance, blessings and full backing from the traditional institution.
Responding, Aguyi, on behalf of the Ona, thanked the group for the visit and recognition of the Abaji traditional institution. He assured them of the royal father’s blessings and support, and also prayed for the GYB2PYB group to succeed in its mission.
The group had earlier visited Abaji, Kwali and Gwagwala traditional councils on Monday.
