Bassa: Calm Returns to Sharia Community As Kogi CP Deploys Men Over Renewed Attack
The Kogi State Police Commissioner, CP Edward Egbuka has deployed men of the command to sharia to restore normalcy.
Sheria in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State came under heavy gun fire in the early hours of today
Reports indicates that young men disguised in military fatigue entered Sheria through Biroko axis and started shooting sporadically and burning houses
The report further indicates that most of the shops by the road side in sheria were burnt. The number of human casualties is yet to be ascertained.
In the last one week there has been renewed hostilities between the Igburra Mozum and Bassas in Bassa Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations officer, SP Williams Ayah who confirmed the attack, said calm has returned to the troubled community.
The Police from Lokoja and the DPO Anyigba, he added are all on the ground, working with other sister security agencies to restore peace, said normal business activities has since returned to the area.
