Christian body thanks Gov. Bello for supporting evangelism
The Superintendent Ministers of Ogugu Area Conference in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State have expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello for the various support to the body especially the donation of a vehicle that has aided its evangelism.
The spokespersons of the group, Reverend Levi Akor made the expression while on paying a courtesy call on Governor Bello on Wednesday in Government House, Lokoja.
Reverend Akor said the gesture from the Governor has in no little measure eased and assisted in the spread of the gospel which is the core mandate of every Christian in the area.
According to the clergy, Christian associations in Kogi State had never had it so good in Kogi state, like they have in the New Direction Administration of Governor Bello who listens to their request.
While calling on other Christian faithful to continue to pray for the governor, he prayed God to sustain him and his cabinet members in their guest to reposition and bring development closer to the people of the state.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Edward Onoja who received the delegation on behalf of the Governor said it was only lawful for the government to be accountable to all the sectors, including religious bodies to ensure everyone was carried along in the scheme of things.
“If as a government we focus on one sector and leave out regions bodies who propagate morality in the society, then we have failed. As a body, you made a request for a vehicle to move around and preach the gospel, which is known as evangelism, the work of God and it was only right to support you.
“If you evangelise and you’re able to win a soul to preach to in church; and an armed robber changes, it has helped the government in solving crime.”
Chief Onoja who expressed joy on the approval given by Governor Yahaya Bello to build a chapel in Government House, added that the approval for him is a dream come through as Christians within Government House since the creation of the state 28 years ago have never had a place of worship.
While commending the Christian body for deeming it necessary to return to say thank you to the Governor, he called on churches to do more work in propagating the gospel of Christ.
