Covid-19: NGO distributes food items to rural dwellers

As part of measure to support communities on the stay at home directive by the government, a non-governmental organization, Strategy and Innovation For Development Initiative (SI4DEV) begins the distribution of food items across the 36 state of the federation and FCT.

In Kogi State, volunteers for the NGO led by the State Cordinator Mr. Samuel Unekwu Elias and the Co-Lead Mr. Adeika Ayo Abraham visited Gada Shagari, a suburb along Lokoja-Okene road in Kogi State where they met with the community heads and distributed the food items to the community.

Leader of the team, Samuel Unekwu said the Food distribution is a measure to compliment government’s efforts at this critical time that the virus is rampaging the whole Country, saying that everyone must contribute to mitigate the suffering of the less privileged in the society.

The community head appreciated SI4DEV for reaching out to the people of his community in this critical time, describing it one of the greatest thing that has happen in his community.

Thereafter, the volunteers embarked on a door to door distribution of the food items.

He prayed for continuous strength and success of the NGO.

The group also went to a major junction in Lokoja the state capital to distribute fliers on prevention of COVID 19 to motorist and passerby as part of its advocacy against the pandemic.
