Dekina LG Chairman Holds Urgent Security Meeting
In a proactive move to bolster peace and safety in Dekina Local Government Area, Hon John Urah Ikani, Executive Chairman of Dekina LG, chaired an emergency security meeting with key stakeholders, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, Heads of Fulani’s and others today 28th November 2025.
The Meeting held in Dekina LG secretariat brought together security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, Fulani’s and others to address rising concerns about crime and criminal activities in the area.
The meeting emphasized the critical need to strategize, re-strategize, and strengthen the security architecture of Dekina to effectively combat crime and ensure a secure environment for residents through a working synergies amongst the Stakeholders.
Hon John Urah commended the efforts of security agencies and traditional rulers this far, highlighted the importance of collaboration, urging participants to work together in identifying vulnerabilities, improving intelligence sharing, and deploying resources to curb the insecurity issues.
Hon John Urah Ikani stressed that “a secure Dekina is a prosperous Dekina,” calling on all stakeholders to own the process and contribute ideas, to help the security agencies to help our people, he used the opportunity to advise the youths to engage in production activities that will shape the future of our generation, warned them to shun violence, crime and criminalities, saying Dekina LG is not a safe place for such unholy acts.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Dekina, Anyigba, Abocho, representatives from the Nigerian Army, and other security heads commended the Chief Servant of Dekina LG for always being proactive and quick response to security needs, they pledged their total support, outlining various strategies to help secure Dekina LG.
Traditional rulers echoed the call for unity, with the Chairman of Dekina Traditional Rulers Council emphasizing the role of communities in reporting crimes and supporting victims. Religious leaders committed to using their platforms to preach peace and discourage criminality.
The meeting underscores Hon John Urah Ikani commitment to safety, Peace and progress of Dekina LG. In a swift response to their needs, Hon John Urah approved major of their requests to Carry out their work effectively.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief Servant of Dekina LG Hon John Urah banned the used of Knockout and directed the religious leaders to suspend all religions actions beyond 4pm daily.
