Dr. Elukpo Declares Intention to Contest Bassa Constituency Seat in Kogi Assembly
Dr. J.W. Elukpo has formally declared his intention to contest for the Kogi State House of Assembly seat representing Bassa Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration was made on Sunday, February 8, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the APC Ward Executives in Gboloko, Bassa Local Government Area.
As part of the engagement, Dr. Elukpo first paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Acting Estu of Bassa-Nge Kingdom, His Royal Highness Alhaji Gimba Shuaibu, at Gboloko, the administrative headquarters of the Bassa-Nge Kingdom. During the visit, he congratulated the regent on his recent appointment by the Bassa-Nge Council of Chiefs and sought royal guidance and blessings as a native of the community.
In his response, HRH Alhaji Gimba Shuaibu expressed appreciation for the visit and offered prayers for the success of Dr. Elukpo’s political aspiration.
Dr. Elukpo thereafter led his entourage to meet with the Gboloko APC Ward Executives, where he officially informed party leaders of his ambition to represent Bassa Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly.
Welcoming the aspirant, the APC Ward Chairman, Hon. Moses Daniel, commended Dr. Elukpo for beginning his political journey from the grassroots, describing the visit as a demonstration of respect for party leadership and commitment to the party’s structure. He noted that Dr. Elukpo’s aspiration brings a fresh perspective that could drive development and open new opportunities for the constituency, urging him to remain focused and resolute. According to him, Gboloko Ward and the entire Bassa Constituency are fortunate to have a candidate of his calibre in the race.
Other party executives also warmly received Dr. Elukpo, expressing their support while drawing attention to key challenges confronting the local government, particularly in the area of infrastructure.
Dr. Elukpo’s political track record was highlighted as being firmly rooted at the grassroots, marked by youthful energy, dedication to community service, and a strong sense of responsibility.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Elukpo expressed gratitude to the Supreme leader of APC in the state State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for fostering a supportive and youth-friendly political environment that encourages young leaders to aspire for elective positions. He also appreciated the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for sustaining policies that promote youth inclusion in governance.
He thanked the Ward Chairman and party executives for the confidence reposed in him and assured them that with unity, support, guidance, and prayers, greater development and a brighter future await Bassa Constituency.
