Easter: Ejura Onoja urges Christians to be guided by Lent lessons
As Nigerians join their counterparts all over the world to celebrate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ tomorrow, the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Mrs Ejura Mercy Onoja has urged, particularly Christians, to be guided by the lessons of the Lenten season.
Mrs Onoja who specified this in her Easter felicitation message on Saturday in Abuja enjoined Christians to imbibe the virtues of love, peace and sacrifice, which were the attributes of Jesus Christ, and intensify prayers to God to heal the world of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging nations and killing people in their thousands as Government strives on its part to control the spread of the virus.
The Wife of the Deputy who reminded women particularly, of the power of prayers and the exploits of Esther through prayers when the children of Israel were faced with many challenges and how the Lord intervened to save the Israelites, called for more prayers and inter-cessions.
Mrs Onoja who described Easter celebration as the foundation of Christianity, encouraged Christians to uphold the significance of the Lenten season which comes with the value of repentance, self-denial and prayer.
The Wife of the Deputy restated the need for simple personal hygiene and adherence to precautionary measures in order not to contract the virus as they celebrate.
She further urged Nigerians not to leave the task of nation building to the government alone, stressing the need for everyone to contributes their quota especially in the face of the worst global pandemic in history (coronavirus).
