EFCC’s Unpreparedness Forces Court to Adjourn Former Governor Bello’s Case Until June 27

In a significant legal development, the Federal High Court has adjourned the case involving the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, until June 27, following a request by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This decision came after the EFCC, represented by their lawyer, AbdulWahab (SAN), indicated that they were not prepared to proceed with the case on the scheduled date.

Today 13th June, 2024, scheduled for the court hearing, AbdulWahab (SAN), the EFCC’s legal representative, approached the counsel representing Yahaya Bello with a request for adjournment. Citing reasons for their unpreparedness, the EFCC sought additional time to ensure they could adequately present their case.

Despite the request for an adjournment, sources close to Yahaya Bello indicated that he was ready and willing to appear in court as scheduled. This readiness to attend the court hearing reflects Bello’s intention to address the allegations head-on. His preparedness to appear underscores a commitment to engage with the legal process, regardless of the EFCC’s readiness.

The court, taking into account the agreement between both legal teams, granted the adjournment and rescheduled the case for June 27.
