#EndBadGovernanc: Vice President, Pan-African Youth Union Calls for End to Protests, Promotes Dialogue
The Vice President for West Africa of the Pan-African Youth Union, Oladele John Nihi, has called on #EndBadGovernance protesters across Nigeria to heed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appeal to end the ongoing demonstrations. Nihi recognizes the frustrations and grievances driving the protests but emphasizes the importance of continued dialogue and engagement to address the issues at hand.
In his address, President Tinubu expressed a willingness to listen and work towards solutions, a move Nihi commends. Nihi urges all stakeholders to engage constructively and work together towards resolving the concerns raised by the protesters.
Expressing his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives during the protests, Nihi highlights the violence and looting that have marred the demonstrations over the past three days. He notes that opportunistic elements are exploiting the protests to cause widespread destruction and suffering, undermining their original purpose.
In response, Nihi announced that his office, in conjunction with the Forum of Special Advisers on Youth to Governors in Nigeria, is organizing a 2-day National Youth Dialogue – Nigeria, scheduled for October 1-2, 2024. This platform aims to provide a constructive space for young people to share ideas, engage in dialogue, and chart a way forward.
Nihi encourages all protesters to participate in this initiative and join the peaceful and respectful conversation about the future of Nigeria. He calls for collective efforts towards building a more inclusive and prosperous nation.
