Engr. Ohere Lauds Gov. Bello’s Three Phase Health Sector Intervention Package
The three phase intervention package of the Kogi State Government in the health Sector has been described as one that would ensure the people have good health care delivery services.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere made the disclosure while inspecting ongoing construction work at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja. He disclosed that the intention of Gov. Bello in the three package intervention in the health Sector remains unprecedented.
Engr. Ohere speaking with newsmen, explained that the first phase package by Gov. Bello in the health institutions of the State is the construction and reconstruction of health facilities in the state, describing the intervention in the State Specialist Hospital as one of such interventions.
The Commissioner disclosed further that such health facilities as are located in Okene, Ayingba, Isanlu, Gegu beki amongst several other places are undergoing upgrade are receiving facelift.
He pointed out that the second phase intervention package would be the upgrade of the health facilities that would witness the purchase of equipment like the X-ray, MRI, City Scan machines that would provide the needed quality health care services to the people of the State.
The Commissioner added that the third phase package intervention by the administration would be the recruitment and training of the manpower that would use the facilities in the constructed and upgraded Health institutions.
Engr. Ohere expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work ongoing at the State Specialist Hospital, adding that since the new committee put together by Gov. Bello to oversee the completion of work at the hospital took charge, so much mileage has been covered in the work plan.
He maintained that from the entrance, through the walkways, the various wards of the hospital, the committee has revisited the displeasure of the governor when he inspected the hospital.
He pointed out that the committee has been able to bring the work to the standard expected by Gov. Bello, pointing out that the committee has reinitiated a proper work and have advanced to the level of specifications required of the Governor’s standard.
The Commissioner added further that a new key thrust that was 3.7m has been replaced with a 6m thrust to allow for proper flow of water, maintained that the ordinary long span earlier used in the roofing has been replaced with metro tiles of high quality.
Similarly the committee he added has changed the floor pattern to taruline, while the wooden tiles have been replaced with silver hand rails.
As part of meeting with the standard, the Commissioner directed that all the external cables showing outside should be conduit as well as directed an increase in the flow drains, expressed satisfaction thus far with the quality and pace of work assuring that it would be delivered at the right time.
