Ex-PDP governorship aspirant in Kogi defects to APC

Chief Joseph Erico Ameh, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chief Erico, alongside other decampees from the SDP, LP, APGA, and other political parties, was received by the State Deputy Governor, Chief (Dr) Edward Onoja, on behalf of Governor Yahaya Bello at the Okpo Ceremonial Square in Olamaboro, on Monday.

He said his decision to join the APC was premised on the giant strides recorded by the government of APC in Kogi State under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello.

The grassroots politician and security expert praised the wisdom and doggedness of the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, whom he described as a brother, adding that he is instrumental to his joining the APC.

He promised to support the deputy governor along with other stakeholders in Olamaboro local government area to ensure that they deliver massive votes for the APC candidate, Usman Ododo.

“My defection to APC is to join hands with the ruling party to attract more development to our people, I will work with all stakeholders to ensure that APC wins the governorship election in November. I implore all supporters to work assiduously to ensure that Usman Ododo of APC is elected the governor of Kogi State”.

The Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja who received the decampees praised them for aligning with the progressives. He said the APC has never lost an election in Olamaboro Local Government Area, adding that the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kogi State would not be an exemption.

He said Joe Erico is not just a politician but a renowned security expert who is bringing his wealth of experience to add value to the APC.

Onoja affirmed that the teaming supporters of Joe Erico who have decamped with him have finally decimated opposition PDP in the local government, urging the people to help him and other members of the APC to vote massively for the candidate of the party in order to prove to the world that the people of Olamaboro are trustworthy.

The Kogi State commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Gabriel Olofu, Olamaboro LGA Chairman, Hon Friday Adejoh, Ankpa LGA Chairman, Ibrahim Abagwu, APC State Secretary, LGA Chairman, ward chairmen and other stakeholders were among dignitaries that graced the event.
