Executive Council Approves Establishment of Kogi State Honours Award

The Kogi State Government has approved the establishment of the State Honours Award to confer state honours to deserving persons based on their life accomplishments and contributions to the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo made this disclosure today while briefing newsmen after the state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Yahaya Bello in government house, Lokoja.

Fanwo said the world is what it is today due to the lack of reward for excellence, stressing that the government decided to institute the biennial award to people who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields and contribute to the development of the state.

He said the council has directed the Attorney General to the state to send the instrument to the House of Assembly for consideration and passage.

The Commissioner also said that council approved the bill for the repeal of the law establishing the Kogi State College of Nursing and Midwifery (law 2006), and to reenact the Kogi State College of Nursing and Sciences and Other Matters Connected Therewith (law 2023).

On hhis part, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Zakari Usman said council approved a memo for the domestication of a new entry level for Medical Laboratory Scientists intake on CONHENS 09.

He said the bill seeks to bring about equity readjustment for the medical laboratory scientists intends so as to be at par with other medical sciences who are commenced on CONHENS 09.
