FRSC Sector Commander Visits Kogi SEMA Boss, Seeks Collaboration Towards Emergency Management
The State Emergency Management Boss Alhaji Mouktar Atimah and his management team received the Corps Commander Samuel S. Oyedeji fsi, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps Kogi State and his team today 20th May, 2024 in his office State secretariat complex.
In his opening remarks, the Corps Commander disclosed that the Corps as an emergency institution has deemed it necessary to visit the Agency to familiarize with the office and also to know the preparedness plans of the Agency towards flood prediction as the both institutions should work together for an effective disaster risk management.
In his welcome address Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, the Executive secretary on behalf of his team appreciated the Sector Commander and his team for the timely visit even though the Agency was working towards it. Nothing that the visit is a sign for a successful partnership in view.
He mentioned the excellent performance of the Corps during previous flood out break leading to efficient management of the road traffic when the Kotto Karfi – Abuja road was inaccessible. Noting that the Corps is a critical stakeholder in emergency management
The Executive Secretary further disclosed the preparedness plans of the Agency for managing the flood as predicted. He disclosed that the Agency is on the preflood stage of her implementation of preparedness plan which involves mobilization of critical stakeholders, organization of stakeholders workshop, and massive awareness creation using gate keepers like the traditional rulers, the religious leaders and the Media(both print and electronic).
Hon Atimah revealed that the state governor Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo has the political will to address emergency matters particularly the impending flood as he has promised the Agency for necessary support to manage the impending flood disaster.
The Sector Commander appreciated the Executive secretary Alhaji Mouktar Atimah for his passion and commitment. He requested that the time table for the Nine(9) LGAs town awareness campaign be sent to him to mobilize the Corps commands in those areas to participate as part of their support.
