Good Governance: Kogi Govt Herps on Quality Service, as Ododo Hint Special Advisers on KPI Assessment During Two-day Workshop

The government of Kogi State under Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo has insisted that business of government must entirely be about excellent service delivery to the people of the state. The government also informed the Special Advisers to the Governor on the intention of the administration to conduct Key Performance Indicator assessments for all government officials after certain period of time to ascertain their level of performance, value for money spent and impact of government on the people from one office to another.

This was made known by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the Forum of Special Advisers to the Governor during the opening ceremony of a two day capacity building workshop for all Special Advisers to the Governor at the government house on Tuesday. The event which was declared open by the Governor as representated by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State is a gathering put together to build the capacity of the Special Advisers to aid their day to day discharge of duties.

The SGS announced to the meeting that the business of Government has become more serious and requires the seriousness of all government officials in making frantic efforts to assist government to succeed. Dr Ayoade challenged the Special Adviser to devise more means to ensure they are seen to be punctual and performing at their points of duties. She hinted that government is planning to track performance of its officials to ascertain what each person is doing to promote good governance and better service delivery and that the system will at periodic reviews carry out KPI assessments of all government officials to be able to score each person and compare note to ensure value addition by everyone drawing salary from government.

While making his welcome address, Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers who doubles as Special Adviser to Governor on Energy Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi Mnipr began with words of appreciation to the Governor for finding them worthy of appointment. He said the crop of Special Advisers under the Ododo administration are a united family bonded by burdens of making the administration to succeed, he explains that the workshop was deliberately organized to foster a platform for capacity building, government policy review, open up strong inter office networks of communication and collaboration and encourage one another to succeed in the government of continuity and consolidation.

The forum Chairman further said the government has a covenant of service delivery, good governance and shared prosperity with people of Kogi state and that Special Advisers hold very strong place in making government to deliver on her promises to the people. He said the Special Advisers are therefore readily prepared to carry on task of governance for the good of the people and succeed of Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo.

While delivering his lecture, Abuja based lead development expert and Pastor of the Potters Porch Int’l, Pastor John Taiye Aboyeji discussed about commitment, loyalty, hardwork and responsibility taking as important in providing leadership with impact.

Former Chairman of the Forum and now Member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Usman Ochidi spoke from angle of experience to give insight into what a Special Adviser must do as responsibilities to succeed.
