Gov Bello Commences Palliative Work on Federal Road in Nagazi
Directs Ministry of Works to ensure compliance to standard
Residents of Nagazi in Kogi Central and its environs would soon heave a sigh of relief as Federal Government in collaboration with the
Kogi State Government through Ministry of
Works and Housing commenced the palliative
work on the bad portions of the roads.
The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere FNSE, who stated this on Thursday on an inspection of the ongoing Construction Work in Kogi Central,
stated that the palliative which would be done is
to reduce the hardship being experienced by commuters along the roads.”
The Government understands that the condition of the road has been worsened by the frequent rains in recent times, and this development has made intolerable, the hardship that residents and road users along the axis go through in the course of their daily activities. Engr. Ohere used this opportunity to also appeal to the federal government over the dilapidated and deplorable situation of okene to Auchi road which required urgent attention.
The situation he said is frustrating all aspect of economic activities, subject the state roads under construction especially Ukpogoro to Agassa on an unending pressure thereby affecting our work program. The people are stuck and have continued to groan since they are compelled to spend more time and more money to convey their goods and services. He however appealed to the federal government to look in to Okene Auchi road in order to ameliorate the plight of the commuters and the motorist.
Engr. Ohere maintained that, “there is a synergy between the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and the Kogi State Ministry of Works to carry out the palliative work at Nagazi road and the State Government has graciously instructed that the road be fixed and immediately begin to carry out palliative works. The Government wishes to assure the general public that the palliative works will be done to completion, to ensure safe travel for all vehicles and persons.”
He commended the effort of Governor Yahaya Bello for always acting fast on the yearning and aspirations of the people, ”says His Excellency, will always remains committed in providing succour to the good people of Kogi State and he has pledged to remain resolute on the major infrastructural development across the State.
He assured the people of the state of the readiness and determination of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello administration to continue with the execution of the abandoned road projects across the state in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
Residents and road users are urged to be patient and bear with the Kogi State Government for any inconvenience caused, as vehicles working on the roads will remain on site for the next few days as Kogi State Ministry of Works and Housing assured of regular supervision of the projects so as to ensure its completion at the expected period.
