Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has commended the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) for its welfare intervention in the state noting that such good gesture indicates the commission’s concern for the wellbeing of the citizenry.

The state Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku on Tuesday received a delegation from the commission led by board member representing Kogi state, Alhaji Isah Ozi Salami. They were in the state to distribute some welfare materials including 400 bags of rice, 350 pieces of wrappers, 250 gallons of vegetable oil and others to serve as succor for the biting cash scarcity in the country.

Governor Bello expressed optimism that the Kogi state government was anticipating the foundation laying, commencement and completion of the flood victims’ intervention housing scheme of which the state has made provision for the land resources adding that at completion beneficiaries would emerge.

Making reference to the incessant flooding situation in the state, the governor pleaded with HYPPADEC to pay more attention to Ibaji Local Government Area which is often the worst hit of the natural disaster and has been deprived of certain socio economic amenities adding that other nine LGAs must also be given the needed succor response by the commission.

The Governor thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his administration’s insightful establishment of the Commission alluding that such doing was out of concern and care for the welfare of the citizen while adding further that the state government has continued to partner with HYPPADEC to ensure the wellbeing of Kogi citizens was as well catered for.

He assured that the state government would not grow tired of making requests from the commission in the interest of its citizenry while he described the person of Alhaji Isah Ozi Salami as such which has exemplified honesty, simplicity and steadfastness adding that his representation of the state on the HYPPADEC board has brought good dividends to the state and the people

In his remarks, Alhaji Isah Ozi Salami noted that everyone were witnesses to the prevailing unintended economic hardship in the country which is as a result of the cash swap policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He said Nigerians have been faced with the difficulty to access cash even for their basic needs hence the commission thought about the travails of the people living within the 10 LGAs that belonged to the HYPPADEC community.

He said the intervention was part of the commission’s effort to offer succour and alleviate the sufferings of citizens within the commission’s catchment area noting that HYPPADEC has continually responded swiftly to the plight of the citizenry and such intervention was not the first as he recalled the commission’s intervention during the last flooding events.
