Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, ably represented by his Deputy, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja (CIK), on Friday, attended the historic turbaning of Mall. Saliu Mustapha as the new Turaki of Ilorin.

Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, and seat of the Emirate was agog for the monumental turbaning of Mall. Saliu Mustapha who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, and former Deputy National Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), now the APC.

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, HRH, Alh. (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR turbaned Mall. Saliu Mustapha at his ancient Palace amidst glitz, glamour, and cultural fanfare.

Chief Onoja arrived “the State of Harmony” representing Governor Bello, accompanied by top government officials and state legislators; was led to the venue of the Grand Ceremony by his Kwara State counterpart, Mr. Kayode Alabi.

Addressing Journalists, Chief Onoja delivered Governor Bello’s message in felicitating with the new Turaki of Ilorin, describing him as a distinguished compatriot who has bagged national recognition for his pedigree and varied contributions to the progress of the country, and the unique traditional polity of Kwara State.

He said Mall. Saliu Mustapha is a young Nigerian below the age of 50 years which suggests that like Governor Bello who is Nigeria’s youngest Governor, other crops of young Nigerians are recording appreciative successes and daring to challenge the status quo to change the existing narratives.
