Gov Bello to apply “Kogi solution to all forms of criminality” for Tawari Community Attack
To do this, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has assured that his administration would empower communities across the state to protect themselves in accordance with the order of the Inspector General of Police for Community Policing across the country.
The “Kogi Solution” that has helped address security challenges confronting the state would be applied in Tawari Community that was attacked by unknown bandits on January 2nd 2020 to put an end to such ugly incidents across the state.
He gave the assurance this Thursday when he granted audience to the people of Tawari Community led by the Administrator of Kogi Local Government Area, Barrister Muhammad Tanko Musa and the traditional ruler of the area, The Aguma, Alhaji Idris Alhasan Yusuf.
The Governor who had earlier asked for the observance of a minute’s silence in honour of those that lost their lives in the unfortunate event, recalled how he directed the application of the same method in Ojuwo – Ajuomaegbi near Oganenigwu where similar attack had taken place and said it worked there and gave the assurance that it would also work in Tawari.
Governor Bello said his administration is ready to give all communities the powers to protect themselves against any external aggression, describing the attack on Tawari as a terrorist attack that he would not allow to take place in any part of the state.
He said the people of the Community are peace loving and hard working and that the attack was unprovoked, hence his commitment to bringing perpetrators to book wherever they may be.
The Governor said his government has zero tolerance to all forms of criminality and as such, his administration didn’t go about the issue with any form of formalities, stating that security of lives and property was paramount to him.
He promised to attend to all the requests put forward by spokespersons of the community, saying that action was underway to ensure he put to action the suggestions by the community.
“We know we don’t have enough manpower among the security agencies in the state, but we will make sure we empower our people to repel all our attackers wherever they come from. We must deal with the terrorists and the bandits. We are going to use the instrument of government to support all communities to defend themselves,” the Governor maintained.
While praying for the state not to witness a repeat of the same sad incident, Governor Bello expressed gratitude to security agencies for their swift response to his directives, stressing that it demonstrated that the investment of his government on the sector was not in vain.
In his vote of thanks, the administrator of Kogi Local Government Area, Hon Muhammad Tanko Musa expressed gratitude to the present administration in the state for its proactive approach to the attack, and said it had helped calm the situation.
He said due to the swift reaction of the Governor, normalcy was beginning to return to the community and further extended his appreciation to the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja and other government officials for their show of concern on the matter.
