Governor Bello, Deputy receives certificate of return

Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his Deputy Honourable Edward onoja have been issued their certificates of return as winners of the recently concluded kogi gubernatorial poll.

The Governor and Deputy, Incumbent and elect received their certificates on Thursday at the State INEC office in Lokoja.

Governor Bello in his remark noted that the day and event was historic affirming that it would not be his last time of receiving such from the electoral body but in different capacity in years to come

The Governor elect thanked the good people of the State who supported and voted for his candidature, noting that such event would not have been a reality without them.

He pointed out that there were cases of violence recorded before, during and after the election which security agencies had been charged to get those culpable to justice.

The Governor again condoled with families of those who lost their lives in these events of violence noting that his administration stood against any act of criminality irrespective of its perpetrators.

Governor Bello promised that his administration would consolidate on its first term achievements and similarly fulfil its promises of doing more for the electorates.

While he dedicated the victory to his mother, Hajiya Hawawu Bello, Governor Bello thanked the election Umpire, security agencies and other well meaning stakeholders who ensured the success and peaceful conduct of the process.

Presenting the certificate to the Governor and his Deputy, INEC Commisioner in charge of Kogi and Nassarawa, Haruna Kudu Mohammed thanked all stakeholders who participated in the polls for their cooperation.

He charged the Governor and his Deputy elect to ensure that the new dispensation was truly a new beginning for the people of the state as they resolved issues of violence that occurred in some areas by bringing perpetrators to book.

Governor Bello was earlier on Monday declared winner of the November 16 polls by the State’s Returning officer, Mr James Apam scoring 406, 222 votes while close contender of the People’s Democratic Party, Eng Musa Wada scored 189, 704 votes.
