Governor Bello mourns demise of music legend, Sir Victor Uwaifo
….says his legacy carved in the sands of time
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has mourned the demise of Music legend Professor Victor Uwaifo whose passing was announced on Saturday at the age of 80 years
The Governor’s commiseration was contained in a press Statement on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammed Onogwu.
He noted that the deceased was a man who used his music to bring Nigerians together through his sonorous and melodious highlife music which also earned the music maestro a reputation within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
The Music legend who hailed from Edo state recorded certain landmark as he remarkably earned his first degree at the age of 54 with a first class and went ahead to attain Master’s degree and others even at an advanced age.
While the Governor commiserated with the family, the Edo state government and the entire music and entertainment industry over the loss of the legend, he asserted that they all should be consoled by the truth that Prof. Uwaifo lived a fulfilled life.
Governor Bello asserted that Prof. Uwaifo contributed greatly to the Music and entertainment industry, his state and Nation as a whole which earned him a National Honour of Merit; Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
The Governor prayed for God to grant all those grieved the fortitude to bear the loss adding that he would be sorely missed.
