Governor Ododo Hails Ejeh Ofu at 5th Anniversary Celebration

… lauds monarch’s dedication to peace, unity, and cultural heritage

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA, has congratulated His Royal Highness, Chief Akwu A. Obaje, M.Sc, D.Sc, the Ejeh Ofu and Chairman, Ofu Local Government Traditional Council, on his 5th anniversary on the throne.

Speaking through his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu at the celebration in Ugwolawo, on Teusday, Governor Ododo described the milestone as a celebration of leadership, wisdom, and the rich cultural heritage of the Ofu people.

“In the past five years, we have witnessed the dedication of His Royal Highness to promoting peace, unity, and development among our people. The Eje Ofu has remained a beacon of stability, a custodian of our cherished traditions, and a father to all; guiding our people with patience, humility, and wisdom. For this, we are truly grateful,” he said.

The governor also highlighted the vital role of traditional rulers in fostering peace and progress across Kogi State. “Our traditional institutions are pillars of community life. The collaboration between the throne and government has always been key to sustaining peace and fostering development. As a government, we remain committed to strengthening this partnership for the benefit of our people,” he added.

The event featured thanksgiving prayers and the conferment of honorary chieftaincy titles on distinguished individuals. Governor Ododo congratulated the recipients, urging them to see their new titles as a call to greater service, not only to Ofu Local Government, but also to the Igala Kingdom and Kogi State at large.

He extended warm felicitations to the monarch, his council, and the people of Ofu local government, while praying for God’s continued blessings. “May the Almighty grant our royal father long life, good health, and wisdom to lead. May Ofu land, and indeed Kogi State, continue to experience prosperity, harmony, and growth,” he said.

The colourful event was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, sons and daughters of Igala kingdom, and well-wishers from across the federation.
