Gov Yahaya Bello, a pride to Nigerian women and youths – By Prince Salisu Sani Ogu
His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State has in no menial way shown leadership, capacity and consciousness of both Women and Youths in all his doings.
This has been very characteristic with his New Direction drive from Adam and he is not showing any sign of stopping on this as he is doing more. This is no doubt, in tandem with his re-election slogan of “Let’s Do More”.
Whilst we are in the euphoria of his noble Thirty Five percent Women Affirmative Action in governance via the nomination of Women as Vice Chairperson and at least Three Women Councillors per Local Government Areas of the State, His Excellency had a package in mind for the Youths.
And the Youths package is also another record breaking one as His Excellency announced by himself at the stadium during inauguration of the Executive Chairman and their Vice that “depending on Local Arrangements, all the Twenty One Local Government Areas Coordinators of the National Youth Council of Nigeriab(NYCN) be made the Council Secretary of their respective Local Governments”.
By and large, this unique decisions at a time of global call for Women active participation in governance cum Youth engagement at all level is not only commendable but worthy of emulation by Leaders at all level.
It is on this note that I, as an advocate of the Youths want to specially thank His Excellency for this consideration and show of confidence in the Younger Generation. No doubt, he is leading well at the Confluence of opportunities and will even do better when settled at the epicenter of governance which by God grace, will come to fruition in a short time.
My hearty congratulations to all the newly inaugurated Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councillors and Coordinators of NYCN where Local arrangements suit them for Council Secretaries.
