Governor Yahaya Bello commended for improving rural infrastructure
Some Kogi State government appointees under the aegis of Forum of Special Advisers, has sought the support and blessings of traditional rulers in its bid to monitor and track development projects in the state.
The Forum during the day-two of the ongoing “GYB legacy project tour”, paid courtesy visit to the palace of the Ohi of Eganyi and Chairman Ajaokuta Traditional Council, HRH Alh. Musa Achuja.
Leader of the Forum, Hon. Usman Ochidi informed the Ohi that the team is currently on tour of legacy projects of governor Yahaya Bello with the intent of showcasing them to Nigerians and the rest of the world, especially those who are misinformed about the giant infrastructure strides of the governor. He said the governor has achieved a lot within five years in office, dwarfing the achievements of some of his predecessors.
He noted that the records of governor Yahaya Bello in security, inclusivity and infrastructure has placed him ahead of others, making a suitable candidate to take over the leadership of the country come 2023.
In his response, the Ohi of Eganyi praised Governor Yahaya Bello for executing life changing projects that previous governors never thought of. He also commended the Governor improving critical sectors of the state economy, adding that he has laid the foundation of rapid development of the state.
He urged Nigerians to be thoughtful and support Yahaya Bello to become president of the country.
The team then proceeded to inspect the ongoing Ultramodern General Hospital in Eganyi, Ajaokuta LGA.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Matters, Pharmacist Clement Hamidu said the hospital is a secondary tier facility with almost all the Healthcare departments that when completed, would help to attend to the health care needs of the people of Ajaokuta and environs.
He appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello for the initiative, adding that the same project is being replicated across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Hon. Abdulkareem Onyekehi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects who is also an indigene of Ajaokuta LGA, said the project is first of its kind in the local government.
He said what the people currently use is a cottage hospital which is overstretched due to increasing population, saying that siting of the ultramodern hospital in rural communities is a sign that the governor has concern for the masses.
“We are here to show to the world that Yahaya Bello’s focus on rural infrastructure is real and yielding positive impacts. He is fair and just to everyone. Our people are happy with the projects”, Onyekehi said.
Other residents of Eganyi, Bose Jimoh and Rukayat Yusuf could not hide their excitement as they poured encomium on the governor for remembering people at the grassroots.
Moving to Okene, the team visited LGEA, Agasa, the alma matta of the governor which was reconstructed and equipped with advance teaching and learning tools including play grounds for pupils.
Mallam Mohammed Bello, the school headmaster appreciated Governor Bello for the face-lift given to the school and prayed for upliftment for the governor.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Hon. Isah Ohiani who also attended the school applauded the transformation of the school as well as several others in the state. He said the people of Kogi State are the ultimate beneficiaries of the governor’s commitment to quality education, expressing optimism that more will be done in coming days.
The tour also moved to the Agasa-Okeneba-Uvrukura road, the Agasa – Ukpogoro road, Ozuwaya-Icheba-Idosumi-Okene-Eba road which are some of the GYB projects in Kogi Central senatorial district.
The 16km Agassa – Ukpogoro road, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, Hon. Suleiman Hameed, was constructed in 1979, and until the intervention of governor Yahaya Bello, the road had been a death trap.
He said the governor didn’t only fix the road, he ordered that other adjoining roads be constructed alongside the massive erosion control drainages which is already completed.
The over 20km Ozuwaya-Icheba-Idosumi-Okene-Eba road, which stretches across four communities also received the ‘GYB touch’. This road, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Hon. Salihu Ibrahim has eased the pains of the people and also serves as a boost to economic activities.
