Governor Yahaya Bello Welcomes PDP Founding Members into APC
The ongoing situation in the main opposition party, People’s Democratic Party in Kogi state may not have been abetted as many more of it’s foundation members are seeing resigning from the party on daily basis.
The latest was a former House of Assembly Member and immediate past State Treasurer of the party, Barrister Alfred Bello who officially met with Governor Yahaya Bello yesterday in government house Lokoja with many of the party executives who also resigned from their various positions in the party at different levels to join the ruling All Progressive Congress ahead of the Governorship Election schedule to hold on November 11 later this year.
Speaking at the govt house, he said speculations of which party he will join has been laid to rest as he finally joins the ruling Party, while he paid a courtesy call on the Governor Alh Yahaya Bello who is the leader of party in the state.
According to him, he decided to join the ruling party because he did not see victory for PDP in the next Gorvernorship election and as such he did not want to be associated with failure anymore.
He said it is only through the instruments of government that ones can facilitate development to the community and not through the sinking ship of the PDP that is in opposition at both the national and state levels.
He noted that Kabba/Bunu LGA with the highest voting strength in Okun land has never produced Minister, Deputy Governor, SSG, Party Chairmen etc except of recently when Yahaya Bello magnanimously gave the Speakership position to the area.
He retraited that Okun or West governorship is Now or Later but not Now or Never.
He was received by the Governor Alh Yahaya Bello together with other decampees from Kabba/Bunu into the party with the assurances of a level playing ground and equal opportunities for every new comers.
The highly elated Governor particularly appreciated the coming of Hon Alfred Bello and other decampees at this time when APC needed their experience and support to win November 11 Governorship Election.
