Grassroots Key In Development, Curbing Insecurity In Kogi ― Yahaya Bello

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has said that the grassroots assisted him in curbing insecurity in Kogi State and achieving the level of development being recorded in the state.

Governor Bello said this while receiving grassroots political and religious leaders from Jigawa State at the Kogi State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The Governor said the difference between him and other politicians is that he is connected to the grassroots like President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I wouldn’t have succeeded in Kogi State in curbing the insecurity, instituting unity, togetherness, and modest achievement without the grassroots.

“The difference between me and some leaders is that I am connected to the grassroots. The grassroots is where politics is, any administration that is not connected to the grassroots has no business with governance.

“We have learnt from President Buhari, that you must be connected to the grassroots, with the grassroots supporting me and all of us and supporting President Buhari to succeed, we can only come on board to build on his (Buhari) successes,” he said.

Governor Bello commended the delegations from Jigawa State for urging him to run for the presidency in the 2023 general election.

He told them that as many Nigerians have continued to call on him to run for Presidency, he would not betray them or breach the trust they have in him.

“I am so happy to receive a delegation from Jigawa State, this delegation is not just an ordinary delegation, these are delegations who have always been with President Muhammadu Buhari ever since he ventured into politics till date. These delegations make things happen in Jigawa State.

“They have come to lend their voices to very many Nigerians who have been calling me to run for the presidency in 2023, and by the grace of God, I will not disappoint them.

“They have come to repose their trust on me and they have come to extract trust from me as well, and trust is heavy, whoever is taking trust and given a trust must be ready, the grace of God, I am ready, and I will not betray your trust.

“You may have given your trust and confidence to some people who might have betrayed your trust and they are still betraying your trust, but I will not betray your trust.

Earlier, one of the leaders of the delegation from Jigawa, Abdullahi said they have been followers of President Buhari since he joined politics in 2003.

He said came to support the governor in his quest to contest for presidency in 2023 as they have been supporting President Buhari since 2003.

“We are the grassroots politicians in Jigawa state, and we have been in this for a long time, but our political activism intensified with the advent of Buhari into politics in 2003. Right from there, we have no other political ideology, but that of Buhari.

“So, anywhere we move to, we go with his political feelings. We have been hearing from far and near that the Kogi State governor is 100 per cent in support of President Buhari, that is why we have been praying to get a chance that will bring us nearer to him.

“We are grassroots politicians, we are interacting with the people far and near. We are praying for his success, and we are 100 percent in support to assist him in achieving his ambition,” he added.
