GSM Village Fire: Governor Ododo Charges SEMA to Give Comprehensive Report »

The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to constitute a committee of enquiry to investigate the cause of the recent fire outbreak at the GSM village in Lokoja and suggest possible intervention.

The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah and his team who visited the GSM village thereafter, constituted the committee to amongst other things, identify the root cause(s) of the fire outbreak, identify genuine owners of shops affected, identify the worth of the destroyed items and suggest remedial measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

In line with the directive, the Committee of enquiry was set up and swung into action immediately. The SEMA Executive Secretary and other committee members visited the site and had interactions with some victims and eyewitnesses. The Committee assured them of government’s commitment to ensuring safety of lives and property.
