Guber poll: Coalition of Progressive parties laud peaceful conduct of November 11 polls
…appeal to Governor- elect to build on uniting the state
A coalition of 10 Progressive Parties under the aegis of the United Progressive Political Parties (UPPP) have lauded the peaceful conduct of the November 11, gubernatorial polls where the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo was declared the governor-elect by the electoral umpire.
The coalition made this known on Monday, during a press conference in Lokoja, which was attended by all the parties’ representatives. According to Alhaji Idirisu Bala, Chairman, United Progressive Political Parties, he acknowledged that the last Saturday election ranked the most free, fair and credible election in the political history of the state since 1999.
The coalition party congratulated the winner of the just concluded gubernatorial election in Kogi State, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo the candidate of APC While also using the medium to congratulate INEC for painstakingly following the processes of conducting the November 11 , polls.
He said “This election is substantially in compliance with the electoral laws, and the electoral umpires has followed the electoral guidelines as amended, this election is unequivocally devoid of any iorta of sentiments, agenda sitting or ethnicity, inec announced the result after due deligent collation of results from all local government areas of Kogi State and we make bold to say that this election is free, fair and credible and therefore acceptable to us”.
He however appealed to the Governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo to build on uniting the state where section of the three senatorial districts are treated fairly without any iota of sentiments, “united we stand and divided we fall” your mandate is consolidation and discovering new grounds for posterity, he added.
He also made an appeal to all the political parties especially the APC to be magnanimous in Victory by demonstrating the policy of all inclusive governance as examplified by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
He said “Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC should extend a hand of fellowship to all the political parties that struggled through the process of becoming the Governor of our dear state to present their agenda for the development of Kogi State, since the overriding principle is to bring a change for better”.
“We shall not forget in a hurry to commend His Excellency Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello for his dexterity, and doggedness for providing leadership in all ramifications, posterity will not forget you”.
While he saluted all the security agencies for standing tall in their assignment and for maintaining neutrality in the monitoring of the election devoid of intimidation, conspiracy with any arm of the ruling power to pervade injustice, he similarly thanked election Observers, NGO’s and the media who came from all the states and within and made their tangible contribution to the success of the polls.
Mr. Idirisu Bala however made a passionate appeal to all the stakeholders that participated in the quest to rule the state to exercise restraints for the peace of kogi and the citizens, since without peace, there’s cannot be development.
