Guber Poll: Gov. Bello meets party stakeholders, urges them to intensify grassroots campaign
…..warns them against violence, other vices.
Kogi state governor has on Thursday charged party stakeholders to put in more work towards ensuring an overwhelming victory for the party’s candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo at the November 11 polls, urging them to go to their respective political arena and canvass with the numerous achievements of his administration.
The governor who gave this charge at a stakeholders meeting held at the glasshouse of the government in Lokoja warned party members to desist from any act of violence as such would not be tolerated.
He expressed optimism on the victory of the party’s candidate, Usman Ododo, noting that no party in the state has the roboust political structure which the party had built over the years attesting that over 90% of the major opposition party, People’s Democratic Party have decamped into the APC.
The party leader mentioned that the APC remained united and were not interested in any ethnic agenda, as such would only drag the state backward alluding that they should not allow undeserving individuals with selfish motives drag the state and the people backwards.
The governor said past leaders and governors in the state did not emerge on the basis of ethnic agenda, hence such must not be allowed to thrive in the state as those championing this cause were losers. He added that every ethnic group in the state is well represented in the APC and the party’s rank has continued to swell.
While mentioning that the party has an excellent track record in electioneering victories and recorded same feet in the recent election, he assured that the November gubernatorial election would not be different.
Governor Bello noted that the flag off of the campaign shut the mouth of naysayers and re affirmed that Kogi remains solidly an APC party. He further announced that the party had readjusted its campaign rallies into the three major senatorial districts and the grand finale which will hold, November 8.
The governor said that the 21 local government area were encouraged to utilise the remaining days for their respective rallies and canvassing.
Earlier the State Deputy governor, Edward Onoja noted that what seemed impossible many years ago have become the fountain many wants to drink from, and such was alluded to the leadership style of the state governor, Yahaya Bello. He hinted that party stakeholders should return back to base and canvass with the people and on election day deliver the number to guarantee the party’s victory.
The APC chairman, Hon. Abdulllahi Bello in his opening remarks said that the party campaign activities has been restructured in a bid to ensure more engagement with the people at the local level stating that the ruling party was upbeat of a landslide victory.
Other stakeholders who represeneted the three senatorial districts and other demographic interest including the women and youths expressed their readiness to ensure they support the APC and deliver block votes for the party’s candidate in a bid to consolidate on the numerous achievements of the current administration.
They all agreed that the current administration of Governor Bello had laid a solid foundation of good governance which had touched every sphere hence a continuity government of the APC can guarantee better benefits for all, both from the Federal and state government respectively.
