Guber poll; Kogi Central Elders Council throws weight behind Gov. Bello, congratulates Ohere on promotion
The Supreme Council of Elders for Kogi Central Senatorial district have given the 2nd term of governor Yahaya Bello a positive nod as they affirm that his second term holds better deal for the ebira people.
The Elder’s Council also congratulated the newly appointed Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Engineer Abubakar Ohere on his well deserved promotion.
They made this known on Thursday during a courtesy call to the Governor and were received on his behalf by the Commissioner, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. (Dr.) Abubakar Ohere, at his office in Lokoja.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Council, Alh. Sule Aliu (the Ohiekura of Ebiraland), congratulated Governor Bello on his resounding victory at the recently conducted All Progressive Congress Primary Election, expressing that the Council were delighted over his emergence.
The Council Chairman commended Governor Bello for his unprecedented developmental strides across Kogi Central which included the completed Itakpe Junction – Eika – Kuroko – Inoziomi road; Ihima – Obangede road; Makaranta – Obehira-eba – Okengwe road; Obehira-eba – Arigo/Odenku; Ebogogo – Osisi – Ipaku – Uhucheba road.
He also lauded him over numerous ongoing projects like the Ogori/Magongo link; Nagazi-uvete/Nagazi-eba road; Agassa – Upogoro – Checkpoint road; ongoing Agassa Junction – Iruvucheba – Idozumi – Ohu Bariki – Idoji road and also Ebiya – Eganyi – Adogo – Unosi which was being conceived by the New Direction Administration.
Other notable projects the Chairman gave kudos to Governor Bello for were the reticulation of Okene Waterworks and restoration of industrial boreholes across the zone to end the reign of perennial water scarcity; the rehabilitation of College of Nursing and Midwifery Obangede; revitalization and upgrading of Okengwe hospital cottage and Ebiya hospital to a General Hospital.
Alhaji Aliu similarly praised the ongoing GYB Door-to-Door Free Health Care Initiative; the ongoing Youth Skill Acquisition on metallurgical fabrications; among others.
He also noted that the Bello led government has created stronger security architecture in the region with the building of Military Forward Operational Base and recent facilitation of Military Barrack to Okene which comes with other tremendous attendant benefits, in addition to maximum security assurance.
The Council Chairman used the medium to thank and commend the Governor over the recent promotion of Engr. Ohere from a Special Adviser to the Commissioner of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
He noted that such elevation was timely and well deserved while he charged Engr. Ohere to double his commitment and diligence in service.
The Council Chairman urged the Governor to maintain the tempo on infrastructural development; job creation; prompt payment of workers salaries; prioritization of educational development; sustaining the existing peace, love and harmony; and protection of security of lives and properties of citizens.
He on behalf of the Elders Council pledged to work assiduously to reciprocate the good governance and gestures of Governor Bello by mobilising massively for a landslide victory come November 16, governorship election in the state.
Responding on behalf of the Governor, the Honourable Commissioner who doubles as the Leader of Kogi Central Political Officials, Engr Ohere appreciated the Elders Council for the honor and thanked them for always playing advisory role as respected elders in the land.
He noted that Governor Bello prioritized the role of elderly counsel in his administration and that was what inspired the creation of 239 Elders Advisory Council cutting across the state.
Engineer Ohere tasked the Elders Council to extend same appreciation to the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM Dr. Abdulrahman Ado Ibrahim CON, for his immeasurable fatherly advice and prayers in support of the New Direction Administration.
He promised that the people of Kogi central would continue to enjoy more democratic dividends as the Bello led administration remained poised on abiding with the tenants of justice, equity and fairness in governance.
