Hon. Achimugu Begins Strategic Engagement with Stakeholders to Combat Drug Abuse, Illicit Trafficking in Kogi State
Exactly one week after her appointment, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on War Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Hon. Eunice Achimugu has began series of pivotal familiarization visits aimed at strengthening the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Kogi state.
During a visit to the State Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Mr. Umar Mustapha Yahuza, the Special Adviser was briefed on the multifaceted nature of their operations, which include drug counseling, arrests, and responding to individuals seeking help.
Hon. Achimugu expressed deep appreciation for the Commandant’s dedication and assured him of the government’s unwavering support in realizing their objectives. She emphasized, “From my personal research, I have observed the alarming spread of drug abuse, which is not only fostering fraudulent activities but also driving our youth to engage in criminal behaviors such as stealing, armed robbery, and kidnapping. This fast-rising problem requires urgent attention, and I firmly believe that with our collective efforts, we can minimize its impact.”
Acknowledging the crucial role of parents in this fight, Hon. Chief Achimugu revealed plans to involve them more actively in anti-drug initiatives, recognizing that their involvement is key to curbing this menace from its roots. Controller Yahuza, in turn, welcomed Hon.
Similarly, Hon.Chief Achimugu made an official visit to the Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, CP Bertrand Onuoha. During their discussion, CP Onuoha assured Hon. Chief Achimugu of his full cooperation and support. He stated unequivocally, “You can count on my office for any support you need in your capacity as the Special Adviser to the Governor on War Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.”
The Special Adviser stated that her office is commited to forging strong alliances with key stakeholders in the battle against drug abuse.
