I am optimistic, I will emerge APC consensus candidate – Yahaya Bello
Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s charge to All Progressive Congress presidential aspirants to consult, build consensus, and come up with a formidable candidate ahead of the 2023 general election, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has expressed optimism about becoming the ruling party’s flag bearer.
In a radio interview following the meeting at the State House in Abuja on Saturday night, Bello stated that the president provided good leadership advice and that the decision is in the best interests of the party.
The governor from the North Central zone stated that the president and the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, have been working hard to ensure that the party selects the best candidate for the benefit of Nigerians. He stated that it is not about where the person comes from or his religion, but about the candidate’s competence.
The anxiety building up for the presidential special convention, according to Bello, is normal, and it was seen during the party’s primaries for other offices about two weeks ago, and everything worked out fine at the end of the exercises.
Bello added that Nigerians require someone who can build on Buhari’s legacies, secure the country, unite Nigerians, and build economic prosperity, among other things. According to him, he was able to secure Kogi State while also uniting the people, and as such, he believes he will emerge as the APC flag bearer, allowing him to replicate his achievements at the national level.
