Int. Youth Day: Kogi NYCN Inaugurates 7-Member Committee, Plans to Plant 5,000 Trees to Mitigate Climate Change Effects

In commemoration of the International Youth day which holds annually on the 12th of August, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi state have inaugurated a 7-man committee which comprised of experienced youth comrades charged with spearheading a robust and impactful youth day.

While inaugurating the committee the NYCN chairman, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah said the youth body were desirous of a very significant and remarkable celebration this year hence the decision to bring on board very dedicated and experienced youth comrades who would deploy their experience to ensure that their goals were fully achieved.

He noted that Kogi state government under the leadership of Governor Ododo have given room for youths to express themselves in governance hence the youth body intends to give the state a memorable youth day event.

While reading the list of the committee which includes Comrade S.B Emmanuel as Chairman, Comrade Dan’Assabe Muhammed serves as the secretary, he mentioned that the itenenary of programmes would align strongly with the global theme while specific programs would put into consideration peculiarities within the state.

Other members of the committee includes, Comrade Bala Ibrahim, Comrade Isah Abubakar Odoriko, comrade Ismail Muhammed Mustapha, comrade Isreal Alonge and comrade Sunday Alih.

The NYCN chairman commented that while there would be other committees to handle specific tasks the 7-member committee would oversee the overall planning and execution of the programme in collaboration with necessary stakeholders.

On his part, the chairman of the planning committee, Comrade S.B Emmanuel reeled out some of the proposed activities of the event which include youth retreats, rally, sensitisation and other programmes that would fast track youths engagement in leadership and governance.

He noted that part of the youths plan for the international day event was the planting of about 5,000 trees across the 21- Local Government Area of the state as part of its contribution to mitigating against the ravaging effects of climate change and global warming.

Aside this, the chairman, planing committee mentioned that the programme would also incorporate the sensitisation of the youth demography in taking part in mechanised agriculture as well as other ventures that could get them viably engaged.
