Jubilation as NKFI staff receive tertiary institution salary implementation

Massive jubilation erupted at the Felele campus of the Nigeria-Korea Friendship institute, Lokoja when Staff began to receive the alert of what was the implementation of the recently approved tertiary institution salary scale. Many of the staff who could not hide their excitement lauded the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello for showing good gestures to the institute.
According to reports, the efforts to get the institute on the Tertiary Institution Salary Scale began after his resumption as the Rector of the institution. Williams Charles Oluwatoyin informed the State government of the plight of the staffs and the need to facilitate a befitting salary scale for the institute, which also ranked as a tertiary institution.
The Rector, highly overwhelmed by the good news thanked Governor Bello describing him as a phenomenal leader, who has continued to show great interest in the Education sector and has particularly offered good and kind gestures to NKFI.
He narrated that being aware that one of the key success factor for accreditation exercise in any institution is the welfare of its staff, upon resumption, he followed up on NKFI staff welfare, particularly getting the institute enlisted on the Tertiary Institution salary scale which has eventually yielded a positive outcome.
The Rector recalled that his first effort was to facilitate the transfer of service of the staffs of the institute from their various Ministries, Department and Agencies to become permanent staff of NKFI
He similarly thanked the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, the State Auditor General, Accountant General, Commissioner for Education and other well meaning stakeholders who have helped in facilitating and actualising such milestone achievement.
The Rector also thanked the Governing council, Academic Board and management of the institute for their consistent support and help which helped to fast track the positive outcome.
He explained that governor Bello through his actions have truly shown that he is a man of his word asserting that the governor’s commitment to repositioning the friendship institute has been vocally pronounced through his action and the institute under his leadership remained poised to ensure that it changed the face of technical and vocational learning in the state and across the Nation.
The Rector pointed out that with the massive support the institute has received from Gov. Bello owing to his love for Education, he was confident that the forth coming accreditation exercise would be hitch free and would be a huge success.
Speaking with our correspondent, Ambass Sunday Ogwuche, the Head of Department, Electrical and Electronics gave kudos to the state governor for granting listening ears to the plight of the staff of the institute as presented by the able Rector which ensured that the Tertiary institution scale was not just an approval but implementation and a solid end point. He added that such feet which was deemed impossible by previous leaders of the institute had since become a reality.
Similarly, Head of Computer Software Engineering Department, Haruna Atabor Christopher thanked the Executive Governor of Kogi State for putting smile on the faces of the staff of the institution stressing that the implementation of tertiary salary scale for all staff of the institute has been a lingering issue for some years, but the Governor weighed into the situation and resolved the matter.
He is truly a visionary leader who has his people at heart, he said.
