KGSG approves reenactment of Public Procurement Law, two others
The Kogi State Government has approved the Memo for Bill for the reapel and re enactment of the Public Procurement Law while it also gave approval to the Memo for bill for the establishment of Local Government Auditors and Central Reference Hospital in Okene.
This was made known in a press briefing on Wednesday by the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Mr. Mohammed Sani (SAN) after the State Executive Council Meeting at the Government House, Lokoja
He pointed out that after the State’s Executive’s approval, the bills would be transmitted to the Kogi State House of Assembly for thorough legislative deliberations and further action
The Attorney General revealed that these Memo approved the SEC would add value to good governance in the state particularly in areas of openness in financial practices as well as providing quality health services to the people.
He explains that the newly introduced Memo on public procurement would be an improvement on the previously existing 2014 public procurement act looking at the timeliness and current events.
Mr. Mohammed noted that the establishment of Local Government Auditor General would seek to strengthen the government’s drive on financial probity and accountability at all levels of government
The Attorney expressed that he was certain that the legislative arm of the state would continue to remain partners in progress with the executive as it considers speedy passage of these bills.
