KGSG, Bilvisco to spend over N10b on Osara Dam project
Kogi Government in collaboration with Bilvisco investment company is to spend the sum of N12b on the completion of Osara Dam.
It was made known on Tuesday at the official opening ceremony of Bilvisco office in Lokoja the state capital.
The project tagged “Osara Water Distribution and Reticulation in Kogi Central Senatorial District” would use Osara Dam as its source of water distribution networks when completed.
The project which has two (2) years duration for completion is meant to supply sufficient water to the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District.
Governor Yahaya Bello who was represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Barr. Abdulsalam Ozigi Deedat said the project is part of efforts by his administration to ensure basic amenities cuts across all the senatorial districts.
“Water is considered to be very essential in life. This government will continue to give priority to the provision of basic amenities to make life more pleasant for its citizens.”
According to him, the project which is a model of Lokoja Greater Water Scheme has the capacity to supply enough water to the whole axis of Kogi central, adding that the willingness of the government to have provided the company with requisite security and a conducive working environment for operation were all proves of its commitment.
“The project is a test run and will be extended to other senatorial districts,” he added.
In their separate remarks, the Bilvisco Principal Consultant Dr. Williams Omojoshola and the Vice President Africa Business International, Caral Nell expressed appreciation to Kogi State Government for its willingness to partner with their company.
They reassured of their commitments to the speedy take off of the project to meet up with the timeframe/people’s expectation.
In his remarks, the Director General Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo said the project was inline with the fulfilment of promise made by Governor Bello to the people at the grassroots.
Evangelist Fanwo added that the governor places importance on the contractual agreement signed by both parties in order to see to the successful completion of the project.
“This event is a historic one for us, as one of the thematic areas of this government is to see to the provision of basic amenities to ruler communities,” he explained.
The were goodwill messages from the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Edward Onoja who was represented by the House of Assembly member, representing the good people of Olamaboro, Hon. Bobby Ujah and others.
Hon. Bobby Ujah on his part said with the interest the New Direction Government has in ensuring the revamping of all sectors of the economy and to ensure suitable provision of amenities to the people, every bill of interest in such regard would always be accorded attention by the Kogi Assembly.
