Kogi 2023: Kogi COS picks nomination form amidst jubilation, promises consolidation
….says New Direction Govt. has destroyed ethnic, religious sentiments
Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu on Friday picked his Governorship Nomination and Expression of interest forms at the All Progressive Congress National Secretariat, Abuja amidst jubilation and cheers of his supporters.
While addressing the Press immediately after picking his forms, the Chief of staff asserted that his aim is to serve the good people of the state by consolidating on the numerous achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello in areas of security, infrastructural growth and development, women and youth empowerment, all inclusiveness in governance and other key areas.
He expressed that because of the all inclusive nature of Governor Bello, Kogi is discussed first by all citizens without sentiments to religion, tribe and social class adding that every person vying for the governorship position has an equal chance to emerge because it will be an open contest. The Chief of staff acknowledged that Kogi state has left behind the politics of sentiments.
Expanding on a few of his plans, the aspirant affirmed that there is no state or country that has maximally developed without iron and steel hence issues of industrialization would top his list. He also said that youths were in charge under the leadership of Governor Bello and such disposition would be sustained by him.
He noted that he had been part of the New Direction Govt. of Alhaji Yahaya Bello when he was first appointed as the Director General Protocol in 2016 at the age of 32 before being graciously elevated to the serve as the Chief of Staff in October 2019.
The APC gubernatorial aspirant noted that people could attest to the fact that the reign of Governor Bello has been fair, equitable and Just alongside massive infrastructural growth and development. He added that Kogi state has been united in addition to a security situation that shields the state from concerns of banditry, kidnapping and all sought of criminality that engulfs parts of the Northern region of the state.
He said “As the chief of staff I served as the engine room of the administration which others refer to as the palace gate keeper of any administration, consolidation can only happen when you elect an individual who has been part of this God fearing leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
While debunking the claim of a Governor Bello anointed aspirant, Pharm. Asuku noted that the governor is an open book personality, who is known for providing a level playing ground where everybody is allowed to come and showcase their popularity, reiterating that politics is a game of numbers and the good people of the state would make their choice.
