Kogi APC deputy governorship candidate charges Nigerian youths to take their place in leadership

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja has charged Nigerian youths to take their rightful place in leadership to enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

Chief Onoja gave the charge at the endorsement ceremony organized by the state chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Wednesday in Lokoja.

He made reference to Yakubu Gowon whom he said, remains the youngest president to have ever ruled Nigeria at age 31 and how his regime fought to keep Nigeria as one entity during the civil war.

The Deputy Governorship candidate opined that the youths had capacity, passion and experience to assume leadership positions, adding that the youths themselves must begin to get more actively involved should they want to be taken seriously.

According to him, the present administration under Governor Bello had succeeded in giving opportunities to Kogi youths to occupy relevant positions, thereby liberating them from the cloak “leaders of tomorrow” without opportunities to lead.

He emphatically stressed on the need for the youths to support the re-election bid of Governor Bello “What God did in 2015 by allowing His Excellency to become our Governor is divine and not a mistake. It is therefore our responsibility now to sustain it by re-electing him,” he said.

“In the last three and half years Governor Yahaya Bello has led in a detribalised manner. Today, I resigned from office as the Chief of Staff to the Governor and another took over, he balanced the equation by also appointing an Igala man as his Director General, Protocol, which is not the practice before now. We must learn from the leadership example being set by Governor Bello, he has heralded a new Kogi, one that is more united and peaceful. Kogi is now on a pedestal of greatness under Governor Yahaya Bello,” he concluded.
