Kogi APC witnesses total exodus of PDP faithful in Omala to its fold
As alignments and realignments continue in Kogi State preparatory to the November 16 governorship poll, the opposition PDP has been hit with a huge blow as all its bigwigs in Omala Local Government Area formally cross-carpet to the ruling APC.
The decampees were led by the former deputy speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Alih Ajuh; former adviser to the state government, Hon Rosemary Igonoh; PDP chairman for the council, former secretary, youth leader and others.
Receiving the decampees on Saturday in Abejukolo, the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja promised that the present administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello would not treat them like new additions but equals as it deals with old members, saying the policy of the party was to reward members according to their inputs.
He said gone are the days when some members would be working while others reaped the fruits, noting that the decision of the decampees was a step that would help make the victory of the party easier and better appreciated.
The deputy governorship candidate described Omala as part of his constituency and that if God assists him to become the next deputy to Governor Bello, the roads in other parts of Igalaland would receive government attention in addition to other developmental projects in all parts of Kogi East.
In his opening remarks, the administrator of Omala Local Government Area, Hon Ibrahim Aboh emphasised that the APC in Omala is ready to ensure wholesome victory for the party in November 16 and beyond.
He said the new Omala was different from that of the past, stressing that the new Omala is committed to chart a new course for the people starting by ensuring all parts of the council achieved necessary development in order to justify their support for the APC.
Reacting to their decision to join the APC, Hon Alih Ajuh said they have seen the efforts of the APC – led government in ensuring equitable development of the state through massive infrastructural development in Omala and other parts of Igalaland in a way they’ve never seen in their twenty years support for the PDP.
He said Edward Onoja is a worthy Igala son whom, through his boss Governor Yahaya Bello, has attracted unimaginable development to the region, saying that it is only sensible for all well meaning Igalas to join hands with him to achieve more.
He assured the party of massive votes from Omala local government as their decamping today have decimated the PDP in the area.
