Kogi APC Youths Slam Karimi Over Moves to Destabilize Party

The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing has condemned the recent actions of the Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, describing his posture as a threat to the unity and stability of the party in the state.

The youths made their position known on Saturday during a press briefing held at the APC Secretariat in Lokoja, where they accused the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District of undermining the party that provided him the platform to emerge victorious at the polls.

In a statement read by the State APC Youth Leader, Hon. Mohammed U. Mohammed, he expressed concern over what he described as Senator Karimi’s conduct following a stakeholders’ meeting he convened on February 5, 2026.

According to the youths, the senator’s actions were capable of weakening the party’s internal cohesion and public image.

He noted that the APC in Kogi State had been painstakingly rebuilt and strengthened under the leadership of the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, whose efforts, they said, laid a solid political and structural foundation for the party.
The statement added that the current governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, was consolidating that legacy through purposeful leadership and continuity.

The youth wing commended Governor Ododo for what it described as transparent and equitable distribution of projects and appointments across the three senatorial districts, noting that youths, women and persons with disabilities had benefitted from various positions in government.

He also praised the governor’s approach to security, particularly the provision of support to security agencies and the recent unveiling of a security drone to boost the fight against insecurity.

He emphasized that Governor Ododo remained the leader of the party in the state, as affirmed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and called on all party members and leaders to align their activities with the governor and the party structure.

Highlighting the party’s electoral successes, the youths said the APC currently controls two of the three Senate seats from the state, seven of the nine House of Representatives seats, all 25 seats in the State House of Assembly, the 21 local government chairmanship positions, and all 239 councillorship seats.
He attributed the victories to unity within the party and commended the State APC Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, for what they described as his visionary leadership.

He adding that the Governor is already mobilizing stakeholders and the entire state to ensure the reelection of president Tinubu.

The youth wing, however, warned that any attempt by Senator Karimi to destabilize the party structure would be viewed as an act of ingratitude and a move capable of sabotaging the APC.

The youth leader urged the senator to retrace his steps, respect party supremacy, and align with the collective interest of the party in the state, stressing that no individual was bigger than the APC.
