Kogi Assembly lifts suspension on 8 Lawmakers, 2 Council bosses
Kogi State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension order placed on eight of the nine lawmakers allegedly suspected of being involved in terrorism and electoral violence.
The eight lawmakers are: Hon Daniyan Ranyi,(Bassa) ,Hon Muktar Baje ( Okehi), Hon Olusola Kilani Olumo (Ijumu), Hon Akande Moses (Ogori/ Magongo) Hon Lawi Muhammed Ahmed ( Okene 1), Hon Atule Egunu (Ibaji), Hon Suleiman Autajachi Musa (Idah) and Hon Aderonke Aro ( Yagba West).
The two council chairmen cleared of the allegations are Hon Moses Tolorunleke of Kabba/ Bunu and Hon William Ekuwojo of Ibaji.
The House in a voice vote conducted by the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole unanimously cleared the eight lawmakers two council chairmen of the suspected crimes.
This was after the Speaker, Matthew Kolawole had read a letter from Governor Yahays Bello requesting for their clearance against the backdrop of a report from the Department of State Security Service.
The report of the ad hoc committee investigating the alleged crimes read by its Chairman who is the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu also cleared the eight lawmakers except Hon Bello Hassan Abdullah of Ajaokuta.
Meanwhile, the House has adjourned sitting to tomorrow Thursday 25th, 2023 for screening and confirmation of the re appointed Commissioners: Ashiru Idris and Barr Salami Ozigi as well as the Accountant General who went to contest the governorship primary election.
The House is also expected to hold the valedictory service for the 7th Kogi State House of Assembly tomorrow.
