Kogi Civil Service Commission Hails Ododo’s Transformational Strides

As part of activities marking the 2025 Civil Service Week in Kogi State, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Barr. Muhammed Musa Tanko, has commended the transformational strides recorded under the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo while appealing for the approval of pending measures aimed at further strengthening the state’s civil service.

In his address, Barr. Tanko noted that Governor Ododo’s leadership has ushered in significant reforms, including the full implementation of the National Minimum Wage, prompt payment of salaries and leave bonuses, digital transformation initiatives, and the formal absorption of Kogi State Vigilante Service personnel into the civil service. He also highlighted the establishment of the Kogi State ICT Development Agency, under the leadership of Dr. Bashir Tenuche, as a major step toward driving innovation and digital growth in the state.

While acknowledging the progress, the chairman emphasized that certain challenges persist. These include capacity gaps, limited resources, bureaucratic delays, and the operational disruptions caused by retirements without adequate succession planning.

To address these issues, Barr. Tanko appealed to the Governor to approve pending promotions for qualified civil servants for 2023, 2024, and 2025, training for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in line with global best practices, specialized training for the Comptroller-General and management team of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, and recruitment of personnel to close the gap between junior and senior cadres.

Barr. Tanko expressed optimism that with the Governor’s continued support, the Kogi State civil service would achieve greater efficiency and deliver enhanced services to the people.

“As we celebrate Civil Service Week, we do so with renewed hope for a stronger, more productive workforce. With Governor Ododo’s visionary leadership and the dedication of our civil servants, Kogi State is on course for even greater achievements,” he said.
