Kogi Council Election: Echocho Sues for Peaceful Conduct

The Senator representing Kogi East at National Assembly, Sen Isah Jibrin (Echocho), has made a passionate appeal for peace and decorum ahead of the forthcoming Kogi Council elections. Recognizing the critical role local government elections play in shaping grassroots governance and development, Senator Echocho stressed the need for all political actors in the region to uphold democratic values, ensuring that the electoral process is peaceful and devoid of violence.

In his statement, Senator Echocho highlighted that the success of the elections is not just about winning or losing but about safeguarding the future of Kogi East and promoting sustainable development. He urged candidates, party officials, supporters, and all relevant stakeholders to focus on issue-based campaigns and shun actions that could incite violence or create unnecessary tensions in the region during and after the election.

He states that, peace and stability are essential for the growth of Kogi East and that elections should serve as a tool for unity, not division.

Senator Echocho further called on security agencies, the Kogi State Independent Electoral commission (Kosiec), and others to discharge their duties impartially, ensuring that the process is free and fair. He also appealed to the electorate to remain law-abiding, exercise their voting rights responsibly, and reject any attempts to lure them into electoral violence or malpractice.

This call for peace is consistent with Senator Echocho’s long-standing commitment to fostering harmony and stability in Kogi East. Throughout his political career, he has been a strong advocate for dialogue, conflict resolution, and peaceful coexistence, believing that these principles are the bedrock of development. As the council elections approach, Echocho’s message serves as a reminder that true leadership is about building bridges, not walls, and that the ultimate goal of any election should be to uplift the people, strengthen governance, and secure a brighter future for all.

In conclusion, Senator Echocho’s plea is not just a call to action for politicians but for every citizen of Kogi East. His message underscores the collective responsibility of ensuring that the elections are conducted peacefully, thereby contributing to the progress and stability of the region.
