Kogi Deputy Gov. Urges Christian Pilgrimage Commission to Intensify Prayers for State Development

The Kogi State Christian Pilgrimage Commission has been urged to continue fervent prayers for the progressive development of the State.

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, made this plea during a visit by the executives, management, and members of the Kogi State Christian Pilgrimage Commission to his office in Lokoja.

Deputy Governor Joel Salifu lauded the officials of the commission for their unwavering dedication to enhancing the welfare of Christian Pilgrims to the sacred land. He emphasized that Christian pilgrimage serves as a spiritual journey where firsthand insight into the practical scriptural engagements of both New and Old Testament believers is acquired.

Joel Salifu reaffirmed the current administration’s continuous support of responsible religious associations in the state, highlighting that both the governor and himself are open to all spiritual engagements.

In response to the commission’s requests, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu pledged to relay their messages to the governor for due consideration and response. He assured them of Governor Ododo’s unwavering commitment to the Commission, recognizing the importance of spiritual activities among the people of the state.

The Deputy Governor encouraged the executive members of the Commission to uphold and intensify prayers in churches, and all christians gatherings for the governor and himself to fulfill the trust bestowed upon them by the people.

Earlier, the Kogi State Executive Chairman of the Commission, Chief Ayo Christopher Olubunmi, expressed felicitations on the recent Supreme Court ruling and extended gratitude to the governor for settling their financial obligations. He also informed the Deputy Governor about impending Pilgrims set to embark on their journey by October.

Chief Ayo Christopher Olubunmi implored Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to support the sponsorship of more Christians on pilgrimage due to its inherent benefits, lauding the Governor as a staunch supporter of Christians in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Simon Onakpa, announced the upcoming visit of the National Secretary of the Commission to the state at the behest of the Governor, highlighting the need for increased support and collaboration to ensure successful activities.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Hillary Ojomah Egwudah, Commission Permanent Member I, Pastor Joseph Stephen, Babaside Dare, and Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ajayi Victoria were also present at the meeting.
