The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, on Tuesday, paid surprise visits to Crowther Memorial College in Lokoja, to inspect and monitor activities in the school especially the resumption time of teachers.
The Commissioner whose visit happened at exactly 7:30am, frowned at the late resumption of some teachers.
A video clip capturing part of the Commissioner’s visit and seen by INSIDE STORY on Tuesday shows Mr Wemi Jones rebuking some staff who came late and were trying to give excuses for the act. He demanded the whereabouts of some of the absentee workers whom he found their offices were locked up.
The Commissioner, while asking for the whereabouts of other officials requested for the staff register on which he remarked that any staff who came afterwards was already late.
Mr Wemi Jones who was recently reappointed as the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology by Governor Usman Ododo after serving in the same position in the immediate-past government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, said the primary purpose of the visit was to personally access the dedication of staff in the school, stating that it would also visit other schools.
He said the previous administration invested hugely in the education sector, a policy that the current administration of governor Ododo is committed to consolidate on, stressing that he is poised to ensuring decipline, effectiveness and higher productivity on the part of teachers and management of public schools in the state.
The Commissioner however, extended his appreciation to the dedicated staff at the Crowther Memorial College. He encouraged them to adhere to established guidelines and principles, assuring that the administration of Governor Usman Ododo is commited to further promoting the state’s best interest.
