“Kogi first,” Gov Bello declares as he storms state aftermath of Supreme Court victory
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State says the welfare of the state’s citizens remained his priority having put behind the post – election cases distracting his agenda for the state.
He made the assertion on Wednesday in Lokoja in an address to his supporters who welcomed him in a carnival like manner the first time he is entering the state following Monday’s judgement by the Supreme Court which affirmed his re – election.
The Governor who highlighted the place of the youth in government, lauded the current federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari, who he said, was grooming the younger generation to take over the nation’s leadership.
Governor Bello said he was committed to any future leadership challenges that may be bestowed on him, and urged the youth to develop their capacity to meet up with future leadership opportunities.
He stressed that his administration would continue to emphasise the unity of Kogi State, irrespective of the people’s socioeconomic, political or religious leaning, stating that it was only through a united front that the state would experience true development.
The Governor used the occasion to applaud the resilience and determination of his supporters and APC stalwarts in the state to back his government and promised not to let them down.
He called on the opposition to join hands with his government in its efforts to take Kogi out of its woes, noting that it was only through unity and cooperation that they could move the state forward.
Governor Bello promised to leave the doors of his administration wide open for anyone with bright ideas on how best to move the state to a greater height, adding that he was prepared to do all within his powers to leave the state better than he met it.
The Governor who had earlier asked for a minute silence for the peaceful repose of the soul of the recently deceased Attah Igala, HRM Michael Ameh Oboni II, asked the Almighty to grant him peaceful journey to the great beyond.
In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja had thanked the stakeholders for their resolute support for the current administration, saying it had helped in witnessing the progress being enjoyed in the state under governor Yahaya Bello.
