Renewed Hope Initiative: Kogi First Lady Flag-off Distribution of 50,000 Educational Materials to Public Schools Across 21 LGA

  • As stakeholders assure equitable distribution, express gratitude to Sen. Remi Tinubu

The First Lady to the Governor of Kogi state, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo has flagged off the distribution of 50,000 educational materials to public schools across the 21- Local Government Areas of the state under the Renewed Hope Initiative spearheaded by Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Delivering her remark at the event which took place in Lokoja on Thursday, the first Lady noted that access to educational materials should never be a barrier to learning, especially to those who are from a poor background.

She added that the first Lady’s donation of the exercise books would not only help in solving the financial problems of families that are under privileged, but ensure that every child has access to essential learning tools.

She expressed her gratitude to the Nation’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu for her visionary leadership and her dedication to education, adding that the first lady’s passion towards assuring quality education for all is truly commendable and serve as an inspiration to many others, including herself.

She however urged the students to take advantage of the opportunity provided while urging them to let the book be a guide in their journey of learning.

She said: “With determination and hard work and the support of dedicated individuals like her excellency, the First Lady of the Nation, there is no limit to what they could achieve”.

Hajiya Sefinat promised her continued support to the programmes under the Renewed Hope initiatives of Senator Remi Tinubu, while urging those in-charge to ensure that only only the students get the exercise books. She also used the medium to call on citizens to support her husband to succeed in his consolidation assignment.

The State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones in his opening remarks attested that the initiative which was spearheaded by the Nation’s First Lady Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Initiative was such a timely and commendable intervention.

The Commissioner emphasised that there was no greater palliative like the one that involved an investment in the education of the young as such intervention have a long term return attesting that In Kogi state education from basic to advance level is place at a very high pedestal and several of government’s program, policies and projects have reflected such stands.

He expressed gratitude to Kogi’s First Lady for all her effort in the welfare of children in the state and for also ensuring the conveyance of the massive education materials to the state while imploring her to extend the gratitude of the ministry and the school children to the wife of the President for such a kind gesture.

While the Commissioner expresses his Ministry’s commitment to taking education sector in kogi to an enviable height, he warned school administrators at all level to ensure that the materials get directly to the hands of the student while noting that measures would be taken against violators.

Representatives of STETSCOM, SUBEB, NUT in their separate remarks expressed their gratitude and delight in receiving these notebooks for onward distribution to the students alluding that the gesture would go a long way to complement the numerous efforts of the state government under the leadership of Gov. Ododo in the education sector particularly basic education. They also commended the state government for improving greatly on the welfare of primary school teachers in the state adding that such would boast their morale towards more efficient service.

Some of the students who spoke to us in an interview expressed their gratitude to the government and most especially the wife of the President, Senator Remi Tinubu for her relentless efforts in investing in their future.
