Kogi First Lady, Rashida Bello organizes Two-day Seminar on Security, Protocol for Female government officials

Women in Kogi State have been charged to match the expectations and images of the offices they seek by acquiring needed etiquette that’ll aid performance.

This was the charge of the Kogi State First Lady, Mrs. Rashida Bello, at a two-day seminar on protocol and security, organized by her office for wives of top government functionaries and female government officials in Kogi.

The First Lady noted that understanding protocols, as well as having security awareness are important to executing the responsibilities of their various positions as well as managing their homes effectively.

Mrs Bello said the seminar has become essential as it is her desire to see each women do better at their various duty posts as well as in their various homes. She noted that in today’s world, understanding and applying the principles of protocol, etiquette and security are essential for women to be able to carry out their duties with utmost competence. She urged the women to learn how to balance work with home activities and ensure that their homes a properly secured and not jeopardized by other activities. “These elements play a crucial role in maintaining order, safety and harmony in our interactions, be it in diplomatic or social relations,” she said.

The First Lady praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu for leading the current charge for more women involvement in governance and the promotion of quality standards amongst women. She also acknowledged that her husband, Governor Yahaya Bello is the foremost advocate for women inclusion in governance and has lived by example in ensuring that women are not only heard, but are also given the opportunity to lead and contribute to the development of the state.

She expressed optimism that the Governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ododo would consolidate on the achievements of Governor Bello and further on his women friendly policies.

Papers, including “Duties and Qualities of Protocol Officer” delivered by the Director General of Protocol, Kogi State government house, Mr. Aiyenibe, and Etiquette: Official and Social Etiquettes; Human Trafficking and Child molestation: Concern for all. NAPTIP; Functions of Human Relations in Public Sector; Financial Management: How to manage your finances as a Government Official; The Executives and the Law: The Nigerian Police amongst others were topics addressed at the first day of the event.

The seminar which had as participants wives of House of Assembly members, female legislators and other top female officials also had the wife of the governor-elect, Hajiya Sefiya Ododo.

The day-two of the seminar featured goodwill messages from notable women including the wife of the Senator representing Kogi West, Mrs. Stellamaris Karimi, questions and answers session, and a closing remark by the First Lady, Mrs. Rashida Bello.

Highlights of the event were the presentation of certificates of attendance to delegates, a special brunch with the First Lady, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
